This man is Scary. His name is Scary . He looks scary. He acts scary because he wants his audience to look at him and feel their judgmental reactions to him. To be shocked into self-awareness of prejudice and make new choices towards love and understanding of all people.
Criticizing another without opening your heart to them, is a way out of dealing with one’s fear. Putting someone down, so one can feel in control and on top. This is where bullying starts. And when unchecked, by ourselves or our environment, where does the violence stop? Judging someone can escalate to worse kinds of harm – theft, physical violence and killing.
If you question your judgement and assumptions about another person who is different than you, what might you find out about yourself?
Cheers to Scary! Performance is a powerful teaching tool. It takes courage to use your physical self for change.
