Dreamfish Lead Community Manager

About Dreamfish

Dreamfish is the first peer-to-peer global work cooperative. Our mission is to connect people to human work in order to change lives and empower economic dreams. Founded in 2007, it is co-owned by individuals with micro-enterprises from many walks of life in 24 countries.  Dreamfish creates opportunity by providing access to an online marketplace for hiring, online workspaces and tools for project collaboration, events for professional development, and a supportive work community. As each person gains income from projects with other Dreamfish members, member-owners invest 10% back in the cooperative and then share the profits and growth. Members include entrepreneurs, professionals, ICT workers, open source technologists, social impact investors, development NGO leaders and pioneering scholars. Dreamfish partners include Stanford, Craigslist Foundation, Poptech!, Institute for Sustainable Development among others.

Everyone is highly self-directed, smart, ambitious professionals and life-long learners. We bring our humanity to work and work together extremely well as a team. The Dreamfish team, known for its social innovation, cultivates world-class collaboration practices in order to scale empowerment for millions of entrepreneurs worldwide. We do this by applying Open Source community processes, Agile project management, participatory arts, and network-based enterprise development. Learn more about how we work together.

Championing the community

To help you to understand this role, here is a vision for the community that you would shepherd:

We experience Dreamfish as an inspiring connector, connecting us to ourselves, each other and to the world. Together, we share a dream for our community -- We want to create a work community where we can bring our whole selves, where we are all welcome.  Where we can build skills, create social good and live gently on the planet. Whereas the experience of most independents and startups can be painfully isolating, our community offers us feedback, nourishment and inspiration through peer learning, collaborative work, and a marketplace of a diverse open like-minded coworkers, mentors, and clients.  We learn that we do not dance our dreams through standing. We dance our dreams as we walk one step at a time.
